Sirius Exploration is a diversified holding company with interests in North America, China and Macedonia.

Its major interest is the 51% shareholding in Dakota Salts. Dakota has some 5,000 acres of exploration leases in the Williston Basin in North Dakota covering known potash and salt deposits.

In addition to mineral deposits Sirius is working closely with Dakota to examine the prospects for using the salt caverns for natural gas storage from various nearby pipelines and for electricity storage.

The electricity storage is achieved by storing compressed air in the salt caverns during periods of low demand and then using it to generate electricity to meet high demand. It is the only truly environmentally friendly method of storing electricity.

North Dakota is already one of the largest producers of wind generated electricity in the USA and has more potential wind capacity than any other state. One of the critical elements of renewable energy sources is the ability to store the electricity generated during periods when it is available and then feed the grid when required: the wind does not always blow when the lights are turned on in Chicago!

Sirius and Dakota are uniquely positioned to meet this demand.
